GIRLGUIDING DERBYSHIRE AND DERBYSHIRE SCOUTS JOIN FORCES IN A VIRTUAL 'CAMPOVER'.
Date - Friday 22nd, Saturday 23rd or Sunday 24th May, 2020.
Covid·19 may have changed the way that we have to do things but it doesn't stop us from doing them in a different way! Guiding and Scouting in Derbyshire are well renowned for their great joint camping efforts, so let's make this another one of them as we bring our camp together virtually, from all corners of the county and all sections of our organisations. There will be the option to purchase a special event badge from which any proceeds will benefit Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity Covid-19 appeal and the Chesterfield Royal Hospital Charity. It really will be a virtual camp to support real life heroes.
HERES HOW IT WILL WORK...
Choose from Friday 22nd, Saturday 23rd or Sunday 24th May, 2020 to take part in your #derbyshirecampover- there's nothing to stop you from camping over for all three nights!
Set up your camp anywhere you want it to be, within the confines of your home. You can sleep outside or inside, make a den, put up a tent, sleep in a hammock, cuddle up in a blanket fort - the variations are endless and left entirely to your imagination. You could even theme your event if you wanted.
(All that we ask is that parents/guardians ensure that their young people are acting responsibly)
Make sure that you enjoy at least one activity that you would enjoy normally on a Sleepover, Camp or Pack Holiday. You could make a campfire (real or virtual), enjoy hot chocolate, do a craft, play a game with other members of your family, eat s'mores, write a diary, sing campfire songs ..... We'll be
sharing ideas but feel free to devise your own or share ones that your groups enjoy.
Then tell us all about it! Use the hashtag #derbyshirecampover when uploading to social media and tag the County in any public Face book posts etc.
Always make sure that you have appropriate permission before sharing photos.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST TO TAKE PART?
Participation in the event will be free for everyone. We will provide a virtual certificate to participants (unit leaders will register their units and then each leader will be sent a participation certificate to circulate after the event).
WHAT ABOUT BADGES?
Of course there will be badges! These will be optional to purchase at £1 each plus P&P.
