In Summer 2017 1st Taxal Scouts are hoping to visit Norway. We have been invited over by a Norwegian Group who visited the High Peak for "Peak 2015", a huge camp that happens in Chatsworth every 5 years.
The trip will take place in July 2017 when 17 scouts and 5 Explorer scouts (with leaders) will travel to the small village of Sykkylven in Norway. Here the Norwegian scouts will join us in some wonderful authentic experiences where we camp on the side of a fjord, go canoeing, fishing and cook our catch on campfires. We will also visit a Norwegian History Museum to
learn about Norwegian culture past and present. During the week we will visit a Norwegian
city with a boat trip along the local fjords, scouts may even acquire a few words of
Norwegian along the way!
This is such a good opportunity for the scouts and explorers but they have to raise the cost of flights and activities. The target is £6000 which needs to be raised before July. The scouts and explorers are already busy raising funds with cake sales, raffles, bag packs, curry and quiz nights already underway but as you can appreciate this is not a small sum.
If you feel able to help in anyway please it would be very much appreciated. Help could be financial (always appreciated) or with donations for raffles (equally appreciated) or even feel free to participate in any of our events (enjoyable)!
